Bollinger Bands, invented by John Bollinger in the 1980s, are a popular tool used by traders to analyze the markets. Bollinger Bands consists of 3 parts (all lines): The middle band, representing a simple moving average (most common value is 20) The upper band, which is the period + N standard deviations (usually 20 + 2 STD) The Bollinger Bands indicator can help you identify when the market is “cheap” or “expensive”. In an uptrend, you can long near the lower Bollinger Band. In a downtrend, you can short near the upper Bollinger Band.
